Abraham replied, ‘I thought, “There is absolutely no fear of God in this place.  They will kill me because of my wife.”


Abraham said about his wife Sarah, ‘She is my sister.’  So King Abimelech of Gerar had Sarah brought to him.


When the men of the place asked about his wife, he said, ‘She is my sister,’  for he was afraid to say ‘my wife’, thinking,  ‘The men of the place will kill me on account of Rebekah, for she is a beautiful woman.’


Then Elijah became afraid  , and immediately ran for his life.  When he came to Beer-sheba  that belonged to Judah, he left his servant there,


They received help against these enemies because they cried out to God in battle, and the Hagrites and all their allies were handed over to them.  He was receptive to their prayer because they trusted in him.


The one who understands a matter finds success, and the one who trusts in the  Lord will be happy.


The name of the  Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are protected.  ,


A greedy person stirs up conflict, but whoever trusts in the  Lord will prosper.


Every word of God is pure;  , he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.


It is good that you grasp the one and do not let the other slip from your hand. For the one who fears God will end up with both of them.


Who was it you dreaded and feared, so that you lied and didn’t remember me or take it to heart? I have kept silent for a long time, haven’t I?  , So you do not fear me.


Nebuchadnezzar exclaimed, ‘Praise to the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego! He sent his angel  , and rescued his servants who trusted in him.  They violated the king’s command and risked their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.


The king was overjoyed and gave orders to take Daniel out of the den. When Daniel was brought up from the den, he was found to be unharmed, for he trusted in his God.


Don’t fear those who kill the body but are not able to kill the soul;   rather, fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

‘I say to you, my friends,   don’t fear   those who kill the body, and after that can do nothing more.


This man came to him at night and said, ‘Rabbi,  we know that you are a teacher  who has come from God,  for no one could perform these signs you do unless God were with him.’


His parents said these things because they were afraid of the Jews, since the Jews had already agreed that if anyone confessed him as the Messiah,  he would be banned from the synagogue.


Do not show partiality when deciding a case;  listen to small and great alike. Do not be intimidated by anyone, for judgement belongs to God.  Bring me any case too difficult for you, and I will hear it.


Through him you believe in God,  who raised him from the dead  and gave him glory,  so that your faith and hope are in God.


He told her, ‘If they tie me up with new ropes that have never been used,  I will become weak and be like any other man.’


Saul answered Samuel, ‘I have sinned.  I have transgressed the Lord’s command  and your words. Because I was afraid of the people, I obeyed them.


so he pretended to be insane in their presence.  He acted like a madman around them,  scribbling  on the doors of the city gate and letting saliva run down his beard.

David did not let a man or woman live to be brought to Gath, for he said, ‘Or they will inform on us and say, “This is what David did.” ’ This was David’s custom during the whole time he stayed in the Philistine territory.
