His children are far from safety. They are crushed at the city gate, with no one to rescue them.


A mocker seeks wisdom and doesn’t find it, but knowledge comes easily to the perceptive.


For the prudent the path of life leads upwards, so that he may avoid going down to Sheol.


Why does a fool have money in his hand with no intention of buying wisdom?


Wisdom is the focus of the perceptive, but a fool’s eyes  roam to the ends of the earth.


Eloquent words are not appropriate on a fool’s lips; how much worse are lies for a ruler.


Don’t rob a poor person because he is poor, and don’t crush the oppressed  at the city gate,


The evil do not understand justice, but those who seek the  Lord understand everything.


Her husband is known at the city gates, where he sits among the elders of the land.


those who, with their speech, accuse a person of wrongdoing, who set a trap for the one mediating at the city gate and without cause deprive the righteous of justice.


For a fool speaks foolishness and his mind plots iniquity. He lives in a godless way and speaks falsely about the  Lord. He leaves the hungry empty and deprives the thirsty of drink.


They hate the one who convicts the guilty at the city gate, and they despise  the one who speaks with integrity.


For I know that your crimes are many and your sins innumerable. They oppress the righteous,  take a bribe, and deprive the poor of justice  at the city gates.


Hate evil and love good; establish justice at the city gate. Perhaps the Lord, the God of Armies, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.


But the person without the Spirit  does not receive what comes from God’s Spirit, because it is foolishness to him; he is not able to understand it since it is evaluated  spiritually.
