Strike a mocker, and the inexperienced learn a lesson; rebuke the discerning, and he gains knowledge.


Foolishness is bound to the heart of a youth; a rod of discipline will separate it from him.


The wounds of a friend are trustworthy, but the kisses of an enemy are excessive.


Therefore Jacob’s iniquity  will be atoned for in this way, and the result of the removal of his sin will be this: when he makes all the altar stones like crushed bits of chalk, no Asherah poles or incense altars will remain standing.


But he was pierced because of our rebellion, crushed because of our iniquities; punishment  for our peace was on him, and we are healed by his wounds.


For they disciplined us for a short time based on what seemed good to them, but he does it for our benefit, so that we can share his holiness.


He himself bore our sins  in his body  on the tree;  so that, having died to sins,  we might live for righteousness.  By his wounds   , you have been healed.
