The king commanded Joab, Abishai, and Ittai, ‘Treat the young man Absalom gently for my sake.’ All the people heard the king’s orders to all the commanders about Absalom.


Someone from the crowd answered him, ‘Teacher,  I brought my son to you. He has a spirit  that makes him unable to speak.


Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you  to present your bodies as a living sacrifice,  holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship.


I’m not writing this to shame you, but to warn you as my dear children.


For you may have countless instructors in Christ, but you don’t have many fathers. For I became your father  in Christ Jesus through the gospel.


My children,  I am again suffering labour pains  for you until Christ is formed in you.


He is coming with Onesimus,  a faithful and dearly loved brother, who is one of you. They will tell you about everything here.


To Timothy,  my true son in the faith. Grace, mercy, and peace from God the  Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.


To Titus,  my true son  in our common faith. Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Saviour.


Once he was useless to you, but now he is useful both to you and to me.


I wanted to keep him with me, so that in my imprisonment for the gospel he might serve me in your place.


I have no greater joy  than this: to hear that my children  are walking in truth.
