Now four men with a skin disease  were at the entrance to the city gate. They said to each other, ‘Why just sit here until we die?


‘The person who has a case of serious skin disease is to have his clothes torn  and his hair hanging loose, and he must cover his mouth  and cry out, “Unclean, unclean! ”


He will remain unclean as long as he has the disease; he is unclean. He must live alone in a place outside the camp.


The priest will examine him, and if the scab has spread on the skin, then the priest must pronounce him unclean; he has a serious skin disease.


The one who is to be cleansed must wash his clothes, shave off all his hair, and bathe with water; he is clean. Afterwards he may enter the camp, but he must remain outside his tent for seven days.


The Lord said to Moses, ‘Speak to Aaron’s sons, the priests, and tell them: A priest is not to make himself ceremonially unclean for a dead person among his relatives,


If any person does not practise self-denial on this particular day, he is to be cut off from his people.


As the cloud moved away from the tent, Miriam’s skin suddenly became diseased, resembling snow.  When Aaron turned towards her, he saw that she was diseased


The Lord answered Moses, ‘If her father had merely spat in her face, wouldn’t she remain in disgrace for seven days? Let her be confined outside the camp  for seven days;  after that she may be brought back in.’


‘You are to remain outside the camp for seven days. All of you and your prisoners who have killed a person or touched the dead are to purify yourselves on the third day and the seventh day.
