for the Levites left their pasturelands and their possessions  and went to Judah and Jerusalem, because Jeroboam and his sons refused to let them serve as priests of the Lord.


In this area there will be a square section  for the sanctuary, 265 by 265 metres,  , with 26.5 metres  of open space all round it.


‘Command the Israelites to give cities out of their hereditary property for the Levites to live in and pastureland around the cities.


The pasturelands of the cities you are to give the Levites will extend from the city wall half a kilometre  on every side.


When a Levite leaves one of your towns in Israel where he was staying and wants to go to the place the Lord chooses,


They gave them Kiriath-arba  (that is, Hebron; Arba was the father of Anak) with its surrounding pasturelands in the hill country of Judah.
