3 ‘Our father died in the wilderness, but he was not among Korah’s followers, who gathered together against the Lord.  Instead, he died because of his own sin, and he had no sons.

Look, every life belongs to me.  The life of the father is like the life of the son #– #both belong to me. The person who sins is the one who will die.


I, the Lord, have spoken. I swear that I will do this to the entire evil community that has conspired against me.  They will come to an end in the wilderness, and there they will die.’


After Korah assembled the whole community against them at the entrance to the tent of meeting, the glory of the Lord   appeared to the whole community.


But those who died from the plague numbered 14,700, in addition to those who died because of the Korah incident.


Zelophehad son of Hepher had no sons #– #only daughters. The names of Zelophehad’s daughters were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.


They stood before Moses, the priest Eleazar, the leaders, and the entire community at the entrance to the tent of meeting and said,


Why should the name of our father be taken away from his clan? Since he had no son, give us property among our father’s brothers.’


Then he said to them again, ‘I’m going away;   you will look for me, and you will die in your sin.   Where I’m going, you cannot come.’


Therefore I told you that you will die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I am he, you will die in your sins.’


Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man,  and death through sin,  in this way death spread to all people,  because all sinned.


so that, just as sin reigned in death,  so also grace will reign  through righteousness, resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.


For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
