Then Judah said to his daughter-in-law Tamar, ‘Remain a widow in your father’s house until my son Shelah grows up.’  For he thought, ‘He might die too, like his brothers.’ So Tamar went to live in her father’s house.


So she took off her widow’s clothes, veiled her face,  covered herself, and sat at the entrance to Enaim, which is on the way to Timnah. For she saw that, though Shelah had grown up, she had not been given to him as a wife.


She gave birth to another son and named him Shelah. It was at Chezib that  , she gave birth to him.


Judah’s sons: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah; but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. The sons  of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.


Judah, your brothers will praise you. Your hand will be on the necks of your enemies; your father’s sons will bow down to you.


The sons of Shelah son of Judah: Er the father of Lecah, Laadah the father of Mareshah, the families of the guild  of linen workers at Beth-ashbea,


Uthai son of Ammihud, son of Omri, son of Imri, son of Bani, a descendant  of Perez son of Judah;


from the Shilonites: Asaiah the firstborn and his sons;


Pethahiah son of Meshezabel, of the descendants of Zerah  son of Judah, was the king’s  agent  in every matter concerning the people.


while some of the descendants of Judah and Benjamin settled in Jerusalem): Judah’s  descendants: Athaiah son of Uzziah, son of Zechariah, son of Amariah, son of Shephatiah, son of Mahalalel, of Perez’s descendants;


The total number of Perez’s descendants, who settled in Jerusalem, was 468 capable men.


The descendants of Perez: the Hezronite clan from Hezron; the Hamulite clan from Hamul.


Judah fathered Perez and Zerah by Tamar, Perez fathered Hezron, Hezron fathered Aram,


son of Amminadab, son of Ram,  son of Hezron, son of Perez,  son of Judah,


12,000 sealed from the tribe of Judah, 12,000 from the tribe of Reuben, 12,000 from the tribe of Gad,
