but he went on a day’s journey into the wilderness. He sat down under a broom tree  and prayed that he might die. He said, ‘I have had enough! Lord, take my life,  for I’m no better than my ancestors.’


so that I prefer strangling   – death rather than life in this body.  ,


Now if you would only forgive their sin. But if not, please erase me from the book you have written.’


Why has my pain become unending, my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? You truly have become like a mirage to me – water that is not reliable.


Why did I come out of the womb to see only struggle and sorrow, to end my life in shame?


And now, Lord, take my life from me,  for it is better for me to die than to live.’


The Lord has removed your punishment; he has turned back your enemy. The King of Israel, the Lord, is among you; you need no longer fear harm.


And let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.
