Remember them, my God, for defiling the priesthood as well as the covenant of the priesthood and the Levites.


Remember me favourably, my God, for all that I have done for this people.


Then the prophetess Miriam,  Aaron’s sister, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women came out following her with tambourines and dancing.


‘Therefore, this is what the Lord says concerning the prophets who prophesy in my name, though I did not send them, and who say, “There will never be sword or famine in this land.” By sword and famine these prophets will meet their end.


If I go out to the field, look #– #those slain by the sword! If I enter the city, look #– #those ill  from famine! For both prophet and priest travel to a land they do not know.


In that same year, at the beginning of the reign of King Zedekiah of Judah,  in the fifth month of the fourth year, the prophet Hananiah son of Azzur from Gibeon  said to me in the temple of the Lord in the presence of the priests and all the people,


The prophet Hananiah then took the yoke bar from the neck of the prophet Jeremiah and broke it.


The prophet Jeremiah said to the prophet Hananiah, ‘Listen, Hananiah! The Lord did not send you, but you have led these people to trust in a lie.


Many false prophets   will rise up and deceive many.


For false messiahs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders to lead astray,   if possible, even the elect.


‘Be on your guard against false prophets   who come to you in sheep’s   clothing   but inwardly are ravaging wolves.


Just as Jannes and Jambres  resisted Moses,  so these also resist the truth. They are men who are corrupt in mind  and worthless  in regard to the faith.


If anyone sees a fellow believer  committing a sin that doesn’t lead to death, he should ask, and God will give life to him #– #to those who commit sin that doesn’t lead to death. There is sin  that leads to death. I am not saying he should pray about that.


But the beast was taken prisoner, and along with it the false prophet, who had performed the signs in its presence. He deceived those who accepted the mark of the beast and those who worshipped its image with these signs.  Both of them were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulphur.
