Then I said, ‘What you are doing isn’t right. Shouldn’t you walk in the fear of our God  and not invite the reproach of our foreign enemies?


He mocks those who mock but gives grace to the humble.


Let all their wickedness come before you, and deal with them as you have dealt with me because of all my transgressions. For my groans are many, and I am sick at heart.


Ephraim has provoked bitter anger, so his Lord will leave his bloodguilt on him and repay him for his contempt.


David spoke to the men who were standing with him: ‘What will be done for the man who kills that Philistine and removes this disgrace from Israel?  Just who is this uncircumcised Philistine  that he should defy the armies  of the living God? ’
