Finally, the Lord removed Israel from his presence just as he had declared through all his servants the prophets. So Israel has been exiled to Assyria from their homeland to this very day.


‘I will give the land of Canaan to you as your inherited portion.’


The following  are those who came from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer, but were unable to prove that their ancestral families  and their lineage were Israelite:


They will not stay in the land of the  Lord. Instead, Ephraim will return to Egypt, and they will eat unclean food  in Assyria.


So Moses commanded the Israelites, ‘This is the land you are to receive by lot as an inheritance, which the Lord commanded to be given to the nine and a half tribes.


No one of illegitimate birth may enter the Lord’s assembly; none of his descendants, even to the tenth generation, may enter the Lord’s assembly.


The children born to them in the third generation may enter the Lord’s assembly.


When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance and divided the human race, he set the boundaries of the peoples according to the number of the people of Israel.


Joshua cast lots for them at Shiloh in the presence of the Lord where he distributed the land to the Israelites according to their divisions.


Appoint for yourselves three men from each tribe, and I will send them out. They are to go and survey the land, write a description of it for the purpose of their inheritance, and return to me.
