Don’t fear those who kill the body but are not able to kill the soul;   rather, fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.


and blessed is the one who isn’t offended by me.’


For what will it benefit someone if he gains the whole world yet loses his life? Or what will anyone give in exchange for his life?


‘But, so we won’t offend them, go to the sea, cast in a fish hook, and take the first fish that you catch. When you open its mouth you’ll find a coin.   Take it and give it to them for me and you.’


For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother’s womb, there are eunuchs who were made by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves that way because of the kingdom of heaven. The one who is able to accept it should accept it.’


‘Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to make one convert,   and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a child of hell as you are!


‘Snakes! Brood of vipers! How can you escape being condemned to hell?   ,


But I tell you, everyone who is angry with his brother or sister   will be subject to judgement. Whoever insults   his brother or sister will be subject to the court.   Whoever says, “You fool! ” will be subject to hellfire.   ,


And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of the parts of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.


For what does it benefit   someone to gain   the whole world   and yet lose   his life?


But I will show you the one to fear: Fear   him who has authority to throw people into hell   after death. Yes, I say to you, this is the one to fear!


For we know that our old self  , was crucified with him  so that the body ruled by sin  might be rendered powerless,  so that we may no longer be enslaved to sin,


because if you live according to the flesh, you are going to die. But if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body,  you will live.


Instead, I discipline my body and bring it under strict control, so that after preaching to others, I myself will not be disqualified.


Now those who belong to Christ Jesus  have crucified the flesh  with its passions and desires.


Therefore, put to death what belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity,  lust,  evil desire, and greed,  which is idolatry.
