For I desire faithful love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God  rather than burnt offerings.


Blind people!   For which is greater, the gift or the altar that sanctifies the gift?


leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled with your brother or sister, and then come and offer your gift.


Then Jesus told him, ‘See that you don’t tell anyone;   but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.’


And whenever you stand   praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive   him, so that your Father   in heaven   will also forgive   you your wrongdoing.’


But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, ‘Look, I’ll give half of my possessions to the poor,  Lord. And if I have extorted  anything from anyone, I’ll pay back four times as much.’


Then Samuel said: Does the Lord   take pleasure in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the  Lord? Look: to obey is better than sacrifice, to pay attention is better than the fat of rams.
