Because of the depravity of your uncleanness – since I tried to purify you, but you would not be purified from your uncleanness – you will not be pure again until I have satisfied my wrath on you.


and whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave;


‘Then they too will answer, “Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or without clothes, or ill, or in prison, and not help you? ”


Many women who had followed Jesus from Galilee and looked after him were there, watching from a distance.


But it is not so among you.   On the contrary, whoever wants to become great among you will be your servant,


For even the Son of Man   did not come to be served, but to serve,   and to give his life   as a ransom   for many.’   ,


Sitting down, he called the Twelve  and said to them, ‘If anyone wants to be first, he must be last and servant of all.’


I tell you, this one went down to his house justified   rather than the other, because everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.’


It is not to be like that among you. On the contrary, whoever is greatest among you should become like the youngest,   and whoever leads, like the one serving.


‘My kingdom   is not of this world,’ said Jesus. ‘If my kingdom were of this world,   my servants   would fight, so that I wouldn’t be handed over to the Jews. But as it is,   my kingdom is not from here.’


Arriving in Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. They also had John as their assistant.


I do not mean that we lord it over your faith, but we are workers with you for your joy, because you stand firm in your  faith.


May the Lord grant that he obtain mercy  from him on that day. You know very well how much he ministered at Ephesus.


I wanted to keep him with me, so that in my imprisonment for the gospel he might serve me in your place.


Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve those who are going to inherit salvation?


If anyone speaks, let it be as one who speaks God’s words; if anyone serves, let it be from the strength God provides,  so that God may be glorified through Jesus Christ in everything. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.


not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.


Then I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the witnesses to Jesus.  When I saw her, I was greatly astonished.
