Arrogance leads to nothing but strife, but wisdom is gained by those who take advice.


He told them, ‘You will indeed drink my cup,   but to sit at my right and left is not mine to give; instead, it is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father.’


Jesus called them over and said, ‘You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in high positions act as tyrants over them.


When Jesus saw it, he was indignant  and said to them, ‘Let the little children come to me.   Don’t stop   them, because the kingdom of God   belongs to such as these.


When the ten disciples heard this, they began to be indignant with James and John.


But the leader of the synagogue, indignant  because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, responded by telling the crowd, ‘There are six days when work should be done;  therefore come on those days and be healed and not on the Sabbath day.’


Love is patient,  love is kind. Love does not envy,  is not boastful, is not arrogant,


Do nothing out of selfish ambition  or conceit,  but in humility  consider others as more important  than yourselves.


But if you have bitter envy and selfish ambition in your heart, don’t boast and deny the truth.


In the same way, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. All of you clothe yourselves with  humility towards one another, because God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.   ,
