This was very distressing to  Abraham because of his son.


If a man still prophesies, his father and his mother who bore him will say to him, “You cannot remain alive because you have spoken a lie in the name of the Lord.” When he prophesies, his father and his mother who bore him will pierce him through.


He said to him, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.   ,


‘Then he told his servants, “The banquet is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy.


‘If anyone comes to me   and does not hate   his own father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters #– #yes, and even his own life #– #he cannot be my disciple.


But those who are counted worthy   to take part in that age   and in the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage.


But be alert at all times,   praying that you may have strength   to escape   all these things that are going to take place and to stand before the Son of Man.’


so that all people may honour the Son just as they honour the Father.   Anyone who does not honour the Son does not honour the Father who sent him.


He said about his father and mother, ‘I do not regard them.’ He disregarded his brothers and didn’t acknowledge his sons, for they kept your word and maintained your covenant.


But you have a few people   in Sardis who have not defiled   their clothes,   and they will walk with me in white, because they are worthy.


Why, then, do all of you despise my sacrifices and offerings that I require at the place of worship?  You have honoured your sons more than me,  by making yourselves fat with the best part of all of the offerings of my people Israel.”
