After six days  Jesus took Peter, James, and his brother John and led them up on a high mountain by themselves.


Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons approached him with her sons.  She knelt down to ask him for something.


Taking along Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and troubled.


As  he was walking along the Sea of Galilee,  he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter), and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the sea #– #for they were fishermen.


Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They were in a boat with Zebedee their father, preparing their nets, and he called them.


As  soon as they left the synagogue,  they went into Simon  and Andrew’s  house  with James  and John.


While he was sitting on the Mount of Olives  opposite the temple,  Peter,  James,  John,  and Andrew  asked him privately,


The  apostles  gathered around Jesus and reported to him all that they had done and taught.


Because of this, the wisdom of God   said, “I will send them prophets and apostles,   and some of them they will kill and persecute,”


When  the hour came, he reclined at the table, and the apostles with him.


Jesus sent Peter and John,  saying, ‘Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover.’


and so were James and John, Zebedee’s sons, who were Simon’s partners. ‘Don’t be afraid,’   Jesus told Simon. ‘From now on you will be catching people.’


When the apostles returned,  they reported to Jesus all that they had done.  He took them along and withdrew privately to a  town called Bethsaida.


Philip went and told Andrew;  then Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus.


One of his disciples, the one Jesus loved,  was reclining close beside Jesus.


So she went running to Simon Peter  and to the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said to them, ‘They’ve taken the Lord out of the tomb,  and we don’t know where they’ve put him! ’


Simon Peter,  Thomas  (called ‘Twin’  ), Nathanael  from Cana of Galilee,  Zebedee’s  sons, and two others of his disciples were together.


So Peter turned round and saw the disciple Jesus loved  following them, the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and asked, ‘Lord, who is the one that’s going to betray you? ’


This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true.


So Jesus said to the Twelve,  ‘You don’t want to go away too, do you? ’


Jesus replied to them, ‘Didn’t I choose you, the Twelve?   Yet one of you is a devil.’


He was referring to Judas,  Simon Iscariot’s son,  one of the Twelve, because he was going to betray  him.


One of his disciples, Andrew,  Simon  Peter’s  brother, said to him,


When they arrived, they went to the room  upstairs where they were staying: Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James.


Then they cast lots  for them, and the lot fell to Matthias and he was added to the eleven apostles.


and he executed James,  John’s brother, with the sword.


Now Peter and John were going up to the temple for the time of prayer  at three in the afternoon.


Then he appeared to James,  then to all the apostles.


And he himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers,


Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession.


Peter,  an apostle of Jesus Christ: To those chosen, living as exiles  dispersed  abroad in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,  chosen


Simeon  Peter,  a servant and an apostle  of Jesus Christ: To those who have received a faith equal to ours through the righteousness  of our God and Saviour  Jesus Christ.


The elder: To the elect  lady and her children, whom I love in the truth #– #and not only I, but also all who know the truth   #– #


The elder: To my dear friend Gaius, whom I love in the truth.


The revelation of  Jesus Christ that God gave him to show his servants  what must soon take place.  He made it known by sending his angel  to his servant John,


I, John, your brother and partner in the affliction,  kingdom,  and endurance  that are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.


Rejoice over her, heaven, and you saints, apostles, and prophets, because God has pronounced on her the judgement  she passed on you!


I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. When I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had shown them to me.
