You nullify the word of God   by your tradition that you have handed   down. And you do many other similar things.’


So the Pharisees  and the scribes  asked him, ‘Why don’t your disciples live  according to the tradition of the elders,  instead of eating bread with ceremonially unclean  hands? ’


When the Pharisee saw this, he was amazed that he did not first perform the ritual washing  , before dinner.


Now six stone water jars had been set there for Jewish purification.  Each contained eighty or one hundred and twenty litres.


I advanced in Judaism beyond many contemporaries among my people, because I was extremely zealous for the traditions of my ancestors.


Be careful that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit based on human tradition,  based on the elements of the world, rather than Christ.


For you know that you were redeemed from your empty way of life  inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold,
