Therefore, here is what the Lord says concerning the people of Anathoth  who intend to take your life. They warn, ‘Do not prophesy in the name of the Lord,  or you will certainly die at our hand.’


Even your brothers #– #your own father’s family – even they were treacherous to you; even they have cried out loudly after you. Do not have confidence in them, though they speak well of you.


And they were offended by him. Jesus said to them, ‘A prophet is not without honour except in his home town and in his household.’


He  left there and came to his home town,  and his disciples  followed him.


He also said, ‘Truly I tell you, no prophet is accepted in his home town.


(Jesus himself had testified  that a prophet has no honour in his own country.  )
