At noon Elijah mocked them. He said, ‘Shout loudly, for he’s a god! Maybe he’s thinking it over; maybe he has wandered away;  or maybe he’s on the road. Perhaps he’s sleeping and will wake up! ’


So he went to the king, and the king asked him, ‘Micaiah, should we go to Ramoth-gilead for war, or should we refrain? ’ Micaiah told him, ‘March up and succeed. The Lord will hand it over to the king.’


However, Elisha said to King Joram of Israel, ‘What do we have in common? Go to the prophets of your father and your mother! ’ But the king of Israel replied, ‘No, because it is the Lord who has summoned these three kings to hand them over to Moab.’


Rejoice, young person, while you are young, and let your heart be glad in the days of your youth. And walk in the ways of your heart and in the desire of your eyes; but know that for all of these things God will bring you to judgement.


‘ “As for you, house of Israel, this is what the Lord God says: Go and serve your idols, each of you. But afterwards you will surely listen to me, and you will no longer defile my holy name with your gifts and idols.


‘You know   that the Passover takes place after two days, and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified.’


Then  Judas Iscariot,  one of the Twelve,  went to the chief priests  to betray Jesus  to them.


While they were reclining and eating, Jesus said, ‘Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me #– #one who is eating with me.’


He went a little further, fell to the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour  might pass from him.


And again he came and found them sleeping, because they could not keep their eyes open. They did not know what to say to him.


Get up;   let’s go. See, my betrayer is near.’


He also said to them, ‘You have a fine way of invalidating God’s command in order to set up   your tradition!


For he was teaching  his disciples and telling them, ‘The Son of Man   is going to be betrayed   into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after he is killed, he will rise   three days later.’


Jesus replied to them, ‘The hour has come for the Son of Man   to be glorified.


‘Now my soul is troubled. What should I say #– #Father, save me   from this hour? But that is why I came to this hour.


Jesus spoke these things, looked up to heaven, and said, ‘Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son so that the Son   may glorify you,


Then they tried to seize him. Yet no one laid a hand on him because his hour had not yet come.


He spoke these words by the treasury,  while teaching in the temple. But no one seized him, because his hour had not yet come.


Which of the prophets did your ancestors not persecute?  They even killed those who foretold the coming of the Righteous One, whose betrayers and murderers  you have now become.


Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen.  Let them deliver you whenever you are oppressed.’
