The one who conceals his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them will find mercy.


Large crowds followed him from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and beyond the Jordan.


John came baptising  , in the wilderness  and proclaiming a baptism of repentance  for the forgiveness  of sins.


John wore a camel-hair garment with a leather belt round his waist and ate locusts  and wild honey.


All this happened in Bethany  across the Jordan,  where John was baptising.


John  also was baptising in Aenon near Salim, because there was plenty of water there. People were coming and being baptised,


John   , was a burning and shining lamp,   and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.


And many who had become believers came confessing and disclosing their practices,


Peter replied, ‘Repent  and be baptised,  each of you, in the name  of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.


Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.


So Joshua said to Achan, ‘My son, give glory to the Lord, the God of Israel,  and make a confession to him.  I urge you, tell me what you have done. Don’t hide anything from me.’
