Then Zedekiah son of Chenaanah came up, hit Micaiah on the cheek, and demanded, ‘Which way did the spirit from the Lord leave me to speak to you? ’


I gave my back to those who beat me, and my cheeks to those who tore out my beard. I did not hide my face from scorn and spitting.


Let him offer his cheek to the one who would strike him; let him be filled with disgrace.


Now, daughter who is under attack, you slash yourself in grief; a siege is set against us! They are striking the judge  of Israel on the cheek with a rod.


Then they spat in his face  and beat him; others slapped him


After blindfolding him, they kept  asking, ‘Prophesy! Who was it that hit you? ’


Give to everyone who asks you, and from someone who takes your things, don’t ask for them back.


When he had said these things, one of the officials standing by slapped Jesus, saying, ‘Is this the way you answer the high priest? ’


The high priest Ananias ordered those who were standing next to him to strike him on the mouth.


Up to the present hour we are both hungry and thirsty; we are poorly clothed, roughly treated, homeless;


As it is, to have legal disputes against one another is already a defeat for you.  Why not rather be wronged?  Why not rather be cheated?


In fact, you put up with it if someone enslaves you, if someone exploits  you, if someone takes advantage of you, if someone is arrogant towards you, if someone slaps  you in the face.


For you sympathised with the prisoners  and accepted with joy the confiscation of your possessions, because you know that you yourselves have a better and enduring possession.  ,
