‘This  is my servant;  I strengthen him, this is my chosen one;  I delight in him. I have put my Spirit on him; he will bring justice  to the nations.


This is what the  Lord, the Redeemer  of Israel, his Holy One, says to one who is despised, to one abhorred by people,  , to a servant of rulers: ‘Kings will see, princes will stand up, and they  will all bow down because of the Lord, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel   #– #and he has chosen you.’


He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering who knew what sickness was. He was like someone people turned away from; he was despised, and we didn’t value him.


I am a laughing-stock  to all my people, mocked by their songs  all day long.


‘Then I will pour out a spirit  , of grace and prayer on the house of David and the residents of Jerusalem, and they will look at  me whom they pierced. They will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child and weep bitterly for him as one weeps for a firstborn.


Here is my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations.


And a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased.’


The Pharisees, who were lovers of money,  were listening to all these things and scoffing  at him.


Pilate called together the chief priests, the leaders, and the people,


Then  one of the criminals hanging there began to yell insults at  him: ‘Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us! ’
