But he was pierced because of our rebellion, crushed because of our iniquities; punishment  for our peace was on him, and we are healed by his wounds.


Then he released Barabbas to them and, after having Jesus flogged, handed him over to be crucified.


Wanting to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them; and after having Jesus flogged, he handed him over to be crucified.


A third time he said to them, ‘Why? What has this man done wrong?  I have found in him no grounds  for the death penalty. Therefore, I will have him whipped and then release him.’


‘Do not judge, and you will not be judged.   Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.


But Paul said to them, ‘They beat us in public without a trial, although we are Roman citizens, and threw us in jail. And now are they going to send us away secretly? Certainly not! On the contrary, let them come themselves and escort us out.’
