He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering who knew what sickness was. He was like someone people turned away from; he was despised, and we didn’t value him.


From  then on Jesus began to point out to his disciples that it was necessary for him to go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, be killed, and be raised the third day.


Jesus said to them, ‘Have you never read in the Scriptures: The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This is what the Lord has done and it is wonderful in our eyes?   ,


‘See, we are going up to Jerusalem. The Son of Man   will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes,   and they will condemn him to death. Then they will hand him over to the Gentiles,


Haven’t you read this Scripture: The   stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.


Then  he began to teach them that it was necessary for the Son of Man  to suffer many things and be rejected  by the elders,  chief priests, and scribes,  be killed, and rise  after three days.


For he was teaching  his disciples and telling them, ‘The Son of Man   is going to be betrayed   into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after he is killed, he will rise   three days later.’


Then  he took the Twelve aside and told them, ‘See, we are going up to Jerusalem.   Everything that is written   through the prophets about the Son of Man will be accomplished.


and after they flog him, they will kill him, and he will rise on the third day.’


He also said to them, ‘This is what is written:   The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead the third day,


saying,  ‘It is necessary that the Son of Man   suffer many things   and be rejected   by the elders, chief priests, and scribes,   be killed, and be raised the third day.’


He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.


This was to fulfil  the word of Isaiah  the prophet, who said: Lord, who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm   of the Lord been revealed?   ,


But today you have rejected your God,  who saves you from all your troubles and afflictions. You said to him, “You  must set a king over us.”  Now therefore present yourselves before the Lord by your tribes and clans.’


But the Lord told him, ‘Listen to the people and everything they say to you. They have not rejected you; they have rejected me as their king.
