The priests slaughtered the goats and put their blood on the altar for a sin offering, to make atonement for all Israel,  for the king said that the burnt offering and sin offering were for all Israel.


You are to do the same thing on the seventh day of the month for everyone who sins unintentionally or through ignorance.  In this way you will make atonement for the temple.


Seventy weeks are decreed about your people and your holy city – to bring the rebellion to an end, to put a stop to sin, to atone for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy place.


He will slaughter it on the north side of the altar before the Lord. Aaron’s sons the priests will splatter its blood against the altar on all sides.


He is to slaughter the bull before the Lord; Aaron’s sons the priests  are to present the blood  and splatter it  on all sides of the altar that is at the entrance to the tent of meeting.

For if, while we were enemies,  we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, then how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.


He did this so that he might reconcile both to God in one body  through the cross, by which he put the hostility to death.


Therefore, he had to be like his brothers and sisters in every way, so that he could become a merciful and faithful high priest in matters  pertaining to God, to make atonement  , for the sins of the people.
