The Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued the Israelites, who were going out defiantly.  ,


I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the place of slavery.


I will take you as my people,  and I will be your God. You will know  that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from the forced labour of the Egyptians.


I will put it into the hands of your tormentors, who said to you, “Lie down, so that we can walk over you.” You made your back like the ground, and like a street for those who walk on it.


You have enlarged the nation and increased its joy.  , The people have rejoiced before you as they rejoice at harvest time and as they rejoice when dividing spoils.


For long ago I   broke your yoke; I  tore off your chains. You insisted, ‘I will not serve! ’ On every high hill and under every green tree you lay down like a prostitute.


‘This is what the Lord of Armies, the God of Israel, says: “I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.


And I will restore to this place Jeconiah  son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and all the exiles from Judah  who went to Babylon” #– #this is the Lord’s declaration #– #“for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.” ’


The day will be dark  in Tehaphnehes, when I break the yoke of Egypt there and its proud strength comes to an end in the city. A cloud  will cover Tehaphnehes, and its surrounding villages will go into captivity.


The trees of the field will yield their fruit, and the land will yield its produce; my flock will be secure in their land. They will know that I am the Lord when I break the bars of their yoke and rescue them from the power of those who enslave them.


I led them with human cords, with ropes of love. To them I was like one who eases the yoke from their jaws; I bent down to give them food.


I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan and to be your God.


They are not to be sold as slaves,  because they are my servants  that I brought out of the land of Egypt.


For the Israelites are my servants.  They are my servants that I brought out of the land of Egypt; I am the Lord your God.


For I will now break off his yoke from you and tear off your shackles.
