5 This is so the Israelites will bring to the Lord the sacrifices  they have been offering in the open country. They are to bring them to the priest at the entrance to the tent of meeting and offer them as fellowship sacrifices  to the Lord.

Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beer-sheba, and there he called on the name of the Lord, the Everlasting God.


Abraham looked up and saw a ram  caught in the thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram and offered it as a burnt offering in place of his son.


‘Take your son,’ he said, ‘your only son Isaac, whom you love,  go to the land of Moriah,  and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about.’


Then Jacob offered a sacrifice on the mountain and invited his relatives to eat a meal. So they ate a meal and spent the night on the mountain.


They also built for themselves high places,  sacred pillars,  and Asherah poles on every high hill and under every green tree;


However, the people were sacrificing on the high places,  because until that time a temple for the Lord’s name  had not been built.

instead of bringing it to the entrance to the tent of meeting to present it as an offering to the Lord before his tabernacle #– #that person will be considered guilty.  , He has shed blood  and is to be cut off from his people.


The priest will then splatter the blood on the Lord’s altar at the entrance to the tent of meeting and burn the fat as a pleasing aroma to the Lord.


Destroy completely all the places where the nations that you are driving out worship their gods   #– #on the high mountains, on the hills, and under every green tree.
