But you will go to your ancestors in peace and be buried at a good old age.


This is the length  of Ishmael’s life: 137 years. He took his last breath and died, and was gathered to his people.


He took his last breath and died at a good old age,  old and contented,  and he was gathered to his people.


When Jacob had finished giving charges to his sons, he drew his feet into the bed, took his last breath, and was gathered to his people.


When your time comes and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up after you your descendant, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom.


‘As for you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father, and serve him wholeheartedly and with a willing mind,  for the Lord searches every heart and understands the intention of every thought.  If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you abandon him, he will reject you for ever.


Yet they say to God, ‘Leave us alone! We don’t want to know your ways.

when he takes vengeance with flaming fire  on those who don’t know God  and on those who don’t obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.


They claim to know God,  but they deny him by their works.  They are detestable, disobedient, and unfit for any good work.


Israel worshipped the Lord throughout Joshua’s lifetime and during the lifetimes of the elders who outlived Joshua  and who had experienced all the works the Lord had done for Israel.
