‘Get me this girl as a wife,’  he told his father.


Judah got a wife for Er, his firstborn, and her name was Tamar.


King Jehoash of Israel sent word to King Amaziah of Judah, saying, ‘The thistle in Lebanon once sent a message to the cedar  in Lebanon,  saying, “Give your daughter to my son as a wife.” Then a wild animal in Lebanon passed by and trampled the thistle.


Find wives for yourselves, and have sons and daughters. Find wives for your sons and give your daughters to men in marriage so that they may bear sons and daughters. Multiply there; do not decrease.


Samson went down to Timnah  and saw a young Philistine woman there.


But his father and mother said to him, ‘Can’t you find a young woman among your relatives or among any of our people? Must you go to the uncircumcised Philistines for a wife? ’ But Samson told his father, ‘Get her for me. She’s the right one for me.’
