And what more can I say? Time is too short for me to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah,  David, Samuel, and the prophets,


Then the Israelites again did what was evil in the sight of the Lord.  They worshipped the Baals and the Ashtoreths, the gods of Aram, Sidon, and Moab, and the gods of the Ammonites and the Philistines.  They abandoned the Lord and did not worship him.


So the Lord’s anger burned against Israel, and he sold them to the Philistines and the Ammonites.


and when he died, he was buried in Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the hill country of the Amalekites.


Now his father and mother did not know this was from the Lord,  who wanted the Philistines to provide an opportunity for a confrontation.  At that time, the Philistines were ruling Israel.


Then three thousand men of Judah went to the cave at the rock of Etam, and they asked Samson, ‘Don’t you realise that the Philistines rule us?  What have you done to us? ’ ‘I have done to them what they did to me,’ he answered.


And he judged Israel for twenty years in the days of the Philistines.

So the Philistines were subdued  and  did not invade Israel’s territory again.  The Lord’s hand was against the Philistines all of Samuel’s life.
