He looked down towards Sodom and Gomorrah and all the land of the plain, and he saw that smoke was going up from the land like the smoke of a furnace.


But the sight of the wicked  will fail. Their way of escape will be cut off, and their only hope is their last breath.


It will never go out #– #day or night. Its smoke will go up for ever. It will be desolate, from generation to generation; no one will pass through it for ever and ever.


When he held out his hand, the men in ambush rose quickly from their position. They ran, entered the city, captured it, and immediately set it on fire.


When Joshua and all Israel saw that the men in ambush had captured the city and that smoke was rising from it, they turned back and struck down the men of Ai.


The kings of the earth who have committed sexual immorality and shared her sensual and excessive ways will weep and mourn over her when they see the smoke from her burning.


A second time they said, Hallelujah! Her smoke ascends for ever and ever!


The men of Israel had a prearranged signal with the men in ambush: when they sent up a great cloud of smoke from the city,


But when the column of smoke began to go up from the city, Benjamin looked behind them, and the whole city was going up in smoke.


Then the men of Israel returned, and the men of Benjamin were terrified when they realised that disaster had struck them.
