So the king of Israel gathered the prophets, about four hundred men,  and asked them, ‘Should I go against Ramoth-gilead for war or should I refrain? ’ They replied, ‘March up, and the Lord will hand it over to the king.’


Ahaziah went with Joram son of Ahab to fight against King Hazael  of Aram in Ramoth-gilead,  and the Arameans wounded Joram.


From the tribe of Reuben across the Jordan at Jericho, to the east of the Jordan, they received Bezer in the desert and its pasturelands, Jahzah and its pasturelands,


From the tribe of Gad they received Ramoth in Gilead and its pasturelands, Mahanaim and its pasturelands,


all the cities of the plateau, Gilead, and Bashan as far as Salecah and Edrei, cities of Og’s kingdom in Bashan.


Bezer in the wilderness on the plateau land, belonging to the Reubenites; Ramoth in Gilead, belonging to the Gadites; or Golan in Bashan, belonging to the Manassites.


So they designated Kedesh in the hill country of Naphtali in Galilee,  Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron) in the hill country of Judah.


These are the cities appointed for all the Israelites and the foreigners residing among them,  so that anyone who kills a person unintentionally may flee there and not die at the hand of the avenger of blood until he stands before the assembly.


From half the tribe of Manasseh, they gave to the descendants of Gershon,  who were one of the Levite clans: Golan, the city of refuge for the one who commits manslaughter, with its pasturelands in Bashan, and Beeshterah with its pasturelands #– #two cities.


From the tribe of Reuben they gave: Bezer  with its pasturelands, Jahzah  with its pasturelands,


From the tribe of Gad they gave: Ramoth in Gilead, the city of refuge for the one who commits manslaughter, with its pasturelands, Mahanaim with its pasturelands,
