And to you and your future offspring  , I will give the land where you are residing #– #all the land of Canaan #– #as a permanent possession,  and I will be their God.’


You multiplied their descendants like the stars of the sky and brought them to the land you told their ancestors to go in and possess.


Then the Lord said to Satan, ‘Have you considered my servant Job? No one else on earth is like him, a man of perfect integrity,  who fears God and turns away from evil.’


‘This  is my servant;  I strengthen him, this is my chosen one;  I delight in him. I have put my Spirit on him; he will bring justice  to the nations.


Not so with my servant Moses; he is faithful in   all my household.


But commission Joshua and encourage and strengthen him, for he will cross over ahead of the people and enable them to inherit this land that you will see.”


Moses then summoned Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, ‘Be strong and courageous, for you will go with  this people into the land the Lord swore to give to their ancestors.  You will enable them to take possession of it.


So Moses the servant of the Lord   died there in the land of Moab, according to the Lord’s word.


After the death of Moses  the Lord’s servant, the Lord spoke to Joshua son of Nun,  Moses’s assistant:


‘Go through the camp and tell the people, “Get provisions ready for yourselves, for within three days you will be crossing the Jordan to go in and take possession of the land the Lord your God is giving you to inherit.” ’
