Whoever sheds human blood, by humans his blood will be shed, for God made humans in his image.


Lord, they went to you in their distress; they poured out whispered prayers because your discipline fell on them.


Nevertheless, the men rowed hard to get back to dry land, but they couldn’t because the sea was raging against them more and more.


The men were seized by great fear of the Lord,  and they offered a sacrifice to the Lord and made vows.


The sailors were afraid, and each cried out to his god.  They threw the ship’s cargo into the sea to lighten the load.  Meanwhile, Jonah had gone down to the lowest part of the vessel and had stretched out and fallen into a deep sleep.


Furthermore, both people and animals must be covered with sackcloth, and everyone must call out earnestly to God.  Each must turn from his evil ways  and from his wrongdoing.


Yes, Father, because this was your good pleasure.


When the local people saw the snake hanging from his hand, they said to one another, ‘This man, no doubt, is a murderer. Even though he has escaped the sea, Justice has not allowed him to live.’


In him we have also received an inheritance,  because we were predestined  according to the plan of the one who works out everything in agreement with the purpose of his will,


He made known to us the mystery of his will,  according to his good pleasure that he purposed in Christ


Lord, wipe away the guilt of your people Israel whom you redeemed, and do not hold the shedding of innocent blood against them.” Then the responsibility for bloodshed will be wiped away from them.
