This is what the  Lord, the Redeemer  of Israel, his Holy One, says to one who is despised, to one abhorred by people,  , to a servant of rulers: ‘Kings will see, princes will stand up, and they  will all bow down because of the Lord, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel   #– #and he has chosen you.’

He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering who knew what sickness was. He was like someone people turned away from; he was despised, and we didn’t value him.

For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, “He has a demon! ”

When the Pharisees heard this, they said, ‘This man drives out demons only by Beelzebul, the ruler of the demons.’

Therefore,   I tell you, people will be forgiven every sin and blasphemy,   but the blasphemy against   the Spirit will not be forgiven.

Hypocrites! Isaiah prophesied correctly about you when he said:

This was John’s testimony when the Jews from Jerusalem  sent priests  and Levites  to ask him, ‘Who are you? ’

Many of them were saying, ‘He has a demon  and he’s crazy. Why do you listen to him? ’

You call me Teacher and Lord #– #and you are speaking rightly, since that is what I am.

‘How is it that you, a Jew,  ask for a drink from me, a Samaritan  woman? ’ she asked him. For Jews do not associate with  Samaritans.

‘You have a demon! ’ the crowd responded. ‘Who is trying to kill you? ’

So the Jews said again, ‘He won’t kill himself, will he, since he says, “Where I’m going, you cannot come”   ? ’

Then the Jews said, ‘Now we know you have a demon. Abraham died and so did the prophets. You say, “If anyone keeps my word, he will never taste death.”

For even Christ did not please himself.  On the contrary, as it is written, The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.   ,

Let us, then, go to him outside the camp, bearing his disgrace.

You believe that God is one. Good! Even the demons believe #– #and they shudder.
