28 So Jesus said to them, ‘When you lift up the Son of Man,   then you will know that I am   he, and that I do nothing on my own.   But just as the Father taught me, I say these things.

God replied to Moses, ‘I AM WHO I AM.  , This is what you are to say to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you.’


For many will come in my name, saying, “I am the Messiah,” and they will deceive many.


Many will come in my name,   saying, “I am he,”   and they will deceive   many.


Then he said, ‘Watch out that you are not deceived.   For many will come in my name,   saying, “I am he,”   and, “The time is near.” Don’t follow them.


I know that you always hear me, but because of the crowd standing here I said this, so that they may believe you sent   me.’


I am telling you now before it happens,   so that when it does happen you will believe   that I am he.


about righteousness, because I am going to the Father   and you will no longer see me;


They said this so that Jesus’s words might be fulfilled indicating what kind of death he was going to die.


There they crucified him and two others with him, one on either side, with Jesus in the middle.


‘Truly I tell you,   we speak what we know and we testify to what we have seen, but you do not accept our testimony.


‘Just as Moses   lifted up the snake in the wilderness,   so the Son of Man must be lifted up,


Jesus told her, ‘I, the one speaking to you, am he.’


Jesus replied, ‘Truly I tell you, the Son is not able to do anything on his own, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father   does, the Son likewise does these things.


‘I can do nothing on my own. I judge only as I hear, and my judgement   is just,   because I do not seek my own will, but the will of him who sent me.


For I have come down from heaven,   not to do my own will, but the will of him   who sent me.


Therefore I told you that you will die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I am he, you will die in your sins.’


They did not know he was speaking to them about the Father.


Jesus said to them, ‘Truly I tell you, before Abraham was, I am.’


So those who accepted his message were baptised, and that day about three thousand people were added to them.


But many of those who heard the message believed, and the number of the men  came to about five thousand.


and was appointed to be the powerful  Son of God  according to the Spirit of holiness  by the resurrection of the dead.


I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers. I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him.
