I brought  you from the ends of the earth and called you from its farthest corners. I said to you: You are my servant; I have chosen you; I haven’t rejected you.


He will not break a bruised reed, and he will not put out a smouldering wick; he will faithfully bring justice.


Let the wicked one abandon his way and the sinful one his thoughts; let him return to the  Lord, so that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will freely forgive.


‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.


For false messiahs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders to lead astray,   if possible, even the elect.


I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you.   Holy   Father, protect   them by your name   that you have given me, so that they may be one   as we are   one.


since you gave him authority over all people,   , so that he may give eternal life   to everyone you have given him.


‘Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am,   so that they will see my glory, which you have given me because you loved me before the world’s foundation.


‘I have revealed your name   to the people you gave me   from the world.   They were yours, you gave them to me,   and they have kept your word.


This is the will of him who sent me: that I should lose none of those he has given me but should raise   them up on the last day.


He said, ‘This is why I told you that no one can come to me   unless it is granted to him by the Father.’


‘You were born entirely in sin,’  they replied, ‘and are you trying to teach us? ’ Then they threw him out.


The law came along to multiply the trespass.  But where sin multiplied, grace multiplied even more,


For it has been granted to you on Christ’s behalf not only to believe  in him, but also to suffer for him,


But I received mercy  for this reason, so that in me, the worst of them, Christ Jesus might demonstrate his extraordinary patience  as an example to those who would believe in him for eternal life.


Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, bearing this inscription:  The Lord knows those who are his,   , and let everyone who calls on the name  of  the Lord turn away from wickedness.


For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathise with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are,  yet without sin.


Therefore, he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, since he always lives to intercede  for them.


They went out from us, but they did not belong to us; for if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us. However, they went out so that it might be made clear that none of them belongs to us.


Both the Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come! ’ Let anyone who hears, say, ‘Come! ’ Let the one who is thirsty come. Let the one who desires take the water of life freely.
