You have gone astray at the cost of your lives  because you are the ones who sent me to the Lord your God, saying, “Pray to the Lord our God on our behalf, and as for all that the Lord our God says, tell it to us, and we’ll act accordingly.”


Just then someone came up and asked him,  ‘Teacher, what good must I do to have eternal life? ’


Then  an expert in the law  stood up to test  him, saying, ‘Teacher,  what must I do to inherit eternal life? ’


Don’t work for the food that perishes   but for the food that lasts for eternal life,   which the Son of Man   will give you, because God the Father   has set his seal of approval on him.’


Jesus replied, ‘This is the work   of God #– #that you believe in the one he has sent.’


He escorted them out and said, ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved? ’


When they heard this, they were pierced to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, ‘Brothers, what should we do? ’


‘But get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.’


Go near and listen to everything the Lord our God says. Then you can tell us everything the Lord our God tells you; we will listen and obey.”
