Then the servant ran to meet her and said, ‘Please let me have a little water from your jug.’


I am standing here at a spring. Let the young woman  who comes out to draw water, and I say to her, “Please let me drink a little water from your jug,”


So Elijah got up and went to Zarephath. When he arrived at the city gate, there was a widow gathering wood. Elijah called to her and said, ‘Please bring me a little water in a cup and let me drink.’


And whoever gives   even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is a disciple,   , truly I tell you, he will never lose his reward.’


After  this, when Jesus knew that everything was now finished  that the Scripture might be fulfilled, he said, ‘I’m thirsty.’


Jesus answered, ‘If you knew the gift of God,   and who is saying to you, “Give me a drink,” you would ask him, and he would give you living water.’


Jacob’s well  was there, and Jesus, worn out from his journey, sat down at the well. It was about noon.


because his disciples had gone into town to buy food.
