He purchased a section of the field where he had pitched his tent from the sons of Hamor, Shechem’s father, for a hundred pieces of silver.  ,


Over and above what I am giving your brothers, I am giving you the one mountain slope  that I took from the Amorites with my sword and bow.’


for the message that he cried out by the word of the Lord against the altar in Bethel  and against all the shrines of the high places  in the cities of Samaria  is certain to happen.’


He sent messengers ahead of himself,  and on the way they entered a village of the Samaritans  to make preparations for him.


You aren’t greater than our father Jacob,  are you? He gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did his sons and livestock.’


Now many Samaritans  from that town believed in him because of what the woman said  when she testified,  ‘He told me everything I ever did.’


Jacob’s well  was there, and Jesus, worn out from his journey, sat down at the well. It was about noon.


because his disciples had gone into town to buy food.


Joseph’s bones, which the Israelites had brought up from Egypt,  were buried at Shechem in the parcel of land Jacob had purchased from the sons of Hamor, Shechem’s father, for a hundred pieces of silver.  , It was an inheritance for Joseph’s descendants.
