He commanded his servants who were physicians to embalm his father. So they embalmed Israel.


He was buried in his own tomb that he had made for himself in the city of David. They laid him out in a coffin that was full of spices and various mixtures of prepared ointments;  then they made a great fire in his honour.


By pouring this perfume on my body, she has prepared me for burial.


She has done what she could; she has anointed my body   in advance for burial.


Peter,  however, got up and ran to the tomb. When he stooped to look in, he saw only the linen cloths.  , So he went away, amazed  at what had happened.


The dead man came out bound hand and foot with linen strips and with his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus said to them, ‘Unwrap him and let him go.’


Jesus answered, ‘Leave her alone; she has kept it for the day of my burial.


The young men got up, wrapped his body, carried him out, and buried him.
