Then he went and settled in a town called Nazareth to fulfil what was spoken through the prophets, that he would be called a Nazarene.


Above his head they put up the charge against him in writing: This Is Jesus, the King of the Jews.


The inscription of the charge written against him was: The King   of the Jews.


‘Jesus of Nazareth  is passing by,’ they told him.


An inscription was above him:  This Is the King of the Jews.


‘Rabbi,’  Nathanael replied, ‘You are the Son  of God; you are the King of Israel! ’


Then Pilate went back into the headquarters, summoned Jesus, and said to him, ‘Are you the king of the Jews? ’


From that moment Pilate kept trying  to release him. But the Jews shouted, ‘If you release this man, you are not Caesar’s friend. Anyone who makes himself a king opposes Caesar! ’


It was the preparation day for the Passover, and it was about noon.  Then he told the Jews, ‘Here is your king! ’


So the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, ‘Don’t write, “The king of the Jews,”  but that he said, “I am the king of the Jews.” ’


And they kept coming up to him  and saying, ‘Hail, king of the Jews! ’ and were slapping his face.


In fact, I myself was convinced that it was necessary to do many things in opposition to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.


But Peter said, ‘I don’t have silver or gold, but what I do have, I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk! ’
