‘This  is my servant;  I strengthen him, this is my chosen one;  I delight in him. I have put my Spirit on him; he will bring justice  to the nations.


After his anguish, he will see light  and be satisfied. By his knowledge, my righteous  servant  will justify many, and he will carry their iniquities.


Here is my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations.


But if I am doing them and you don’t believe me, believe the works. This way you will know and understand   that the Father is in me and I in the Father.’


‘Truly I tell you, a servant is not greater than his master,   , and a messenger is not greater than the one who sent him.


‘Truly I tell you, the one who believes in me   will also do the works that I do. And he will do even greater works than these,   because I am going to the Father.


‘I will not leave you as orphans; I am coming to you.


Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth.   It is for your benefit that I go away, because if I don’t go away the Counsellor will not come to you. If I go, I will send him to you.


‘Don’t cling to me,’ Jesus told her, ‘since I have not yet ascended   to the Father.   But go to my brothers   and tell them that I am ascending to my Father   and your Father, to my God   and your God.’


Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me,   I also send you.’


This is why the Jews began trying all the more to kill him:  Not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal to God.


Then Jesus said, ‘I am only with you for a short time.   Then I’m going to the one who sent me.


But I want you to know that Christ is the head  of every man, and the man is the head of the woman,  , and God is the head of Christ.


Though you have not seen  him, you love him;  though not seeing him now, you believe in him, and you rejoice  with inexpressible and glorious joy,


saying, ‘Write   on a scroll   what you see and send it to the seven churches: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.’
