I opened to my love, but my love had turned and gone away. My heart sank  because he had left. I sought him, but did not find him. I called him, but he did not answer.


You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.


You always have the poor   with you, and you can do what is good for them whenever you want, but you do not always have me.


Jesus answered, ‘The light will be with you only a little longer.   Walk while you have the light   so that darkness doesn’t overtake you.   The one who walks in darkness doesn’t know where he’s going.


Little children, I am with you a little while longer.   You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so now I tell you, “Where I am going, you cannot come.”


Then he said to them again, ‘I’m going away;   you will look for me, and you will die in your sin.   Where I’m going, you cannot come.’


For there will never cease to be poor people in the land;  that is why I am commanding you, “Open your hand willingly to your poor and needy brother in your land.”
