Then God said, ‘Let there be light,’  and there was light.


I will ransom them from the power of Sheol. I will redeem  them from death. Death, where are your barbs? Sheol, where is your sting? Compassion is hidden from my eyes.


Then he gave them strict orders that no one should know about this  and told them to give her something to eat.


‘And another came and said, “Master, here is your mina. I have kept it safe in a cloth


The dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him to his mother.


‘Remove the stone,’ Jesus said. Martha, the dead man’s sister, told him, ‘Lord, there is already a stench because he has been dead for four days.’


After he said this, he shouted with a loud voice, ‘Lazarus, come out! ’


They took Jesus’s body  and wrapped it in linen cloths  with the fragrant spices, according to the burial  custom of the Jews.


Stooping down, he saw the linen cloths  lying there, but he did not go in.


The wrapping  that had been on his head was not lying with the linen cloths  but was folded up in a separate place by itself.


And just as the Father raises   the dead and gives them life, so the Son also gives life to whom he wants.


‘Truly I tell you, an hour is coming, and is now here,   when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.


He will transform the body of our humble condition into the likeness of his glorious  body,  by the power that enables him to subject everything to himself.


and the Living One.   I was dead, but look #– #I am alive for ever and ever,   and I hold the keys   of death and Hades.


The Lord brings death and gives life; he sends some down to Sheol, and he raises others up.
