Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus;


Then he went and settled in a town called Nazareth to fulfil what was spoken through the prophets, that he would be called a Nazarene.


‘Why don’t you judge for yourselves what is right?


Now Philip was from Bethsaida,  the home town of Andrew and Peter.


Philip found Nathanael  and told him, ‘We have found the one Moses wrote about in the law (and so did the prophets  ): Jesus the son of Joseph,  from Nazareth.’


So they came to Philip,  who was from Bethsaida  in Galilee,  and requested of him, ‘Sir,  we want to see Jesus.’


‘Lord,’ said Philip,  ‘show us the Father, and that’s enough for us.’


‘Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah? ’


So when Jesus looked up and noticed a huge crowd coming towards him,  he asked Philip,  ‘Where will we buy bread so that these people can eat? ’


Philip answered him, ‘Two hundred denarii  , worth of bread wouldn’t be enough for each of them to have a little.’


‘You aren’t from Galilee  too, are you? ’ they replied. ‘Investigate and you will see that no prophet arises from Galilee.’ ¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥ [The earliest manuscripts do not include 7:53–8:11.] [
