Then someone reported to David, ‘Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.’ ‘Lord,’ David pleaded, ‘please turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness! ’


but if you return to the city and tell Absalom, “I will be your servant, Your Majesty! Previously, I was your father’s servant, but now I will be your servant,” then you can counteract Ahithophel’s counsel for me.


When Ahithophel realised that his advice had not been followed, he saddled his donkey and set out for his house in his home town. He set his house in order and hanged himself.  So he died and was buried in his father’s tomb.


They hanged Haman on the gallows he had prepared for Mordecai.  Then the king’s anger subsided.


But when the matter was brought before the king,  he commanded by letter that the evil plan Haman had devised against the Jews return on his own head  and that he should be hanged with his sons on the gallows.


Your iniquity  teaches you what to say, and you choose the language of the crafty.


therefore, men fear him. He does not look favourably on any who are wise  in heart.


for the devious are detestable to the  Lord, but he is a friend  to the upright.


Egypt’s spirit will be disturbed within it, and I will frustrate its plans. Then they will enquire of worthless idols, ghosts, mediums, and spiritists.


who destroys the omens of the false prophets and makes fools of diviners; who confounds the wise and makes their knowledge foolishness;


Then certain ones said, ‘Come, let’s make plans against Jeremiah,  for instruction will never be lost from the priest,  or counsel from the wise, or a word from the prophet.  Come, let’s denounce him  and pay no attention to all his words.’


About Edom,  this is what the Lord of Armies says: Is there no longer wisdom in Teman? Has counsel perished from the prudent? Has their wisdom rotted away?


‘How can you claim, “We are wise; the law of the Lord is with us”? In fact, the lying pen of scribes has produced falsehood.


The wise will be put to shame; they will be dismayed and snared. They have rejected the word of the  Lord, so what wisdom do they really have?


‘Speak as follows: “This is what the Lord declares: Human corpses will fall like manure on the surface of the field,  like newly cut corn  after the reaper with no one to gather it.


The donkey saw the angel of the Lord and pressed herself against the wall, squeezing Balaam’s foot against it. So he hit her once again.


He has done a mighty deed with his arm; he has scattered the proud because of the thoughts of their hearts;


For the wisdom of this world is foolishness  with God, since it is written,  He catches the wise in their craftiness;  ,
