Are God’s consolations not enough for you, even the words that deal gently with you?


Receive instruction from his mouth, and place his sayings  in your heart.


But he is unchangeable; who can oppose him? He does what he desires.


‘I am pure, without transgression; I am clean and have no iniquity.


It would still bring me comfort, and I would leap for joy in unrelenting pain that I have not denied  the words of the Holy One.


Keep falsehood and deceitful words far from me. Give me neither poverty nor wealth; feed me with the food I need.


Your words were found, and I ate them. Your words became a delight to me and the joy of my heart, for I bear your name, Lord God of Armies.


The Lord said, ‘Who then is the faithful and sensible manager   his master will put in charge of his household servants to give them their allotted food   at the proper time?


that servant’s master will come on a day he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know. He will cut him to pieces   and assign him a place with the unfaithful.


But he said, ‘I have food to eat that you don’t know about.’


‘My food is to do the will of him   who sent me   and to finish his work,’   Jesus told them.


Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, ‘If you continue in my word,   , you really are my disciples.


strengthening the  disciples by encouraging them to continue in the faith  and by telling them, ‘It is necessary to go through many hardships  to enter the kingdom of God.’


Like newborn infants, desire the pure milk of the word,  , so that by it you may grow up into your salvation,


They went out from us, but they did not belong to us; for if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us. However, they went out so that it might be made clear that none of them belongs to us.
